Xavier Worthy Reacts to Taylor Swift Freaking Out Over His Draft

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy still can’t believe that Taylor Swift knows his name — and is cheering for him on the football field.

“I ain’t going to lie, it was crazy,” Worthy, 22, said on the Friday, September 5, episode of “The Pivot” podcast. “She’s the biggest pop star in the generation right now. Like, it’s crazy she’s watching football and getting in tune to it. Trav’s getting it right.”

Swift, 35, started dating Worthy’s Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce in summer 2023, where she quickly learned all about the sport. (Swift and Kelce, 35, got engaged in August after two years of dating.)

“I fell in love with it, [and] I became obsessed with it,” Swift gushed on an episode of Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast last month. “I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’”

Taylor Swift is a proud member of Chiefs Kingdom in support of boyfriend Travis Kelce. “Football is awesome, it turns out,” Swift, who started dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in summer 2023, told TIME the following December. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.” Swift went to her first Chiefs game in September […]

She added, “My friends were like, ‘Who body-snatched you? What do you mean, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy?’ I was freaking out.”

Worthy was drafted by the Chiefs in 2024, and Swift also dropped a “like” on the team’s official Instagram announcement at the time.

Not only has the Life of a Showgirl artist been vocal in her support for Worthy, but so has her fiancé.

“What people probably don’t know about Trav [is that he’s] an amazing person,” Worthy said on Friday’s episode. “He’s always going to make sure you’re good and look out [for you]. When I had that situation stuff going on, Trav was one of the first people to reach out to me.”

Worthy was seemingly referring to his breakup from ex-fiancée Tia Jones, who accused the NFL rookie of domestic violence earlier this year. Worthy has denied all of Jones’ allegations.

Xavier Worthy received a surprise when he met Taylor Swift on the field during the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC Championship celebration. “Oh s—, taller than me,” the Chiefs wide receiver, 21, quipped in video footage circulating via X on Sunday, January 26, while friends and family flooded the field to congratulate the Chiefs on advancing […]

“I regret any misunderstandings or conflicts that arose during my relationship with my ex-fiancée,” Worthy said in an April statement. “I also acknowledge that my legal representatives may have made public statements about my ex-fiancée that were intended to protect me, but were misstated. Ending a relationship that spanned over a year can be an emotional experience, and sometimes words are spoken out of hurt and frustration. This matter has now been settled.”

Following the breakup drama, Travis made sure to check in on Worthy.

“It just shows, like, he’s a good guy [who’s] down to earth for you,” Worthy told “The Pivot” hosts. “It was hard, obviously, you don’t prepare for stuff like that. I [also] had my family with me, so they got me through it. And, I mean, football is meditation for me. It’s my escape, so whenever I was going through it, I would go work out, like, ‘I’ll be all right.’”
