This weekend, the Ghostface killer is back in Scream 7, which means Neve Campbell is also returning as Sidney Prescott after sitting out of Scream 6.
The original Scream helped make Campbell a movie star in 1996, and the new sequel may have the same effect for her on-screen daughter, Isabel May, who plays Tatum Evans in Scream 7.
Ahead of the new sequel, Watch With Us is sharing our guide about where to watch all of the Scream movies.
The good news is that you’ll only need a single streaming subscription to catch all six.
‘Scream’ (1996)
The film that started it all would have still been remembered as a horror classic even if there hadn’t been any sequels. Director Wes Craven made his name with A Nightmare on Elm Street and its sequels, but he reinvigorated his career with Scream, which had an uncannily humorous script by Kevin Williamson.
Campbell earned her final girl stripes as Sydney Prescott alongside Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Rose McGowan as Tatum Riley. Drew Barrymore has a killer cameo at the beginning that sets the tone for the entire franchise.

‘Scream 2’ (1997)
The most impressive thing about Scream 2 is that it hit theaters almost exactly one year after the original film. That’s a lightning-fast turnaround that’s rarely seen in Hollywood. Without giving away too many spoilers, the setting shifts from high school to college, as Sydney discovers that more psychopaths are happy to put on a Ghostface mask and make her life hell.
This is arguably the best of the Scream sequels, but there’s always room for debate.

‘Scream 3’ (2000)
It took another three years before Scream 3 hit the big screen, and the franchise felt a little too self-referential as it revolved around real murders surrounding the production of the third film based on the events in the first two movies. Future Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey appeared as Detective Mark Kincaid, a love interest of sorts for Sydney.
Minor spoilers ahead, but Sydney didn’t wind up with Mark after all. The identity of the killer was meant to bring the franchise full circle, and it would be over a decade before another sequel was made.

‘Scream 4’ (2011)
There is actually a brilliant idea at the heart of Scream 4 that’s very similar to the plot of Scream 7, but we can’t really talk about specifics without spoiling both movies. For now, we’ll just say that Scream 4 could have gone down as an all-time classic if it had let the killer win. The person behind the mayhem in this movie wanted something that only Sydney could give, and it’s diabolical.
This is definitely a better movie than Scream 3, but it wasn’t good enough to keep the franchise out of mothballs for another 11 years.

‘Scream’ (2022)
Don’t let the title fool you. Scream (2022) is Scream 5, rather than a full remake of the original. This is what’s called a “requel,” or a legacy sequel. All of the main survivors returned, but the focus shifted to a new generation of teenagers, with Melissa Barrera leading the way as Sam Carpenter, a young woman with a dark connection to the events of the original film.
Jenna Ortega was cast as Sam’s younger sister, Tara Carpenter, before she was set to be the lead of Netflix’s Wednesday and became a bigger star. Tara doesn’t have a very large role in this film, but that changed in Scream 6.

‘Scream 6’ (2023)
This is the only Scream movie that Campbell refused to return for over a pay dispute. And truthfully, the film works perfectly well without her because the focus is squarely on Sam and Tara’s attempt to make a new life for themselves far away from their hometown.
It’s not a spoiler to say that a new killer or killers target Sam and Tara, as well as their circle of friends. The sisters are very appealing to watch here, and Ortega and Barrera could have kept carrying the franchise if they had returned for Scream 7. As unlikely as their comeback seems now, we wouldn’t bet against the Carpenter sisters returning in the future. Hey, stranger things have happened.
