After Cody Linley attended the 20th anniversary premiere for the Hannah Montana special, fans started asking where Miley Cyrus‘ other onscreen love interest, Drew Roy, was now.
Hannah Montana, which aired on Disney Channel from 2006 to 2011, originally introduced Linley’s Jake Ryan as a famous actor who becomes interested in Miley Stewart (Cyrus) when she’s the only one at school who isn’t interested in him.
Miley ultimately gave Jake a chance — and even told him about her secret life as pop star Hannah Montana — but things got complicated when her drummer Jesse (Roy) entered the picture. After a very complicated decision that included Miley printing out photos of both boys, she chose Jake. That proved to be the wrong choice when later in the series Miley found out that Jake cheated on her, which paved the way for Jesse to return into her life.
By the end of the series, Miley and Jesse were dating and they ended the show as a couple. This led fans to hope that Roy, now 39, would be incorporated in the 20th anniversary Hannah Montana special that premiered on Disney+ in March 2026.

Roy, however, was missing from both the special and the red carpet premiere. After his time on Hannah Montana, Roy originally continued to act with roles in Falling Skies, Timeless and The Last Ship. He also appeared in movies such as Sugar Mountain and The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson before stepping away from Hollywood. Roy’s final role was him reprising his character, Griffin, in the iCarly revival, which aired in 2021.
Since leaving acting behind, Roy has transitioned to a career as a qualified jet pilot. His social media, where he has made rare posts from time to time, notes that Roy has a love for flying jets and “my wife and kids.”
Drew is currently married to Renee Roy, with whom he shares two sons. The couple tied the knot in 2015 and celebrated their 10-year anniversary in December 2025.
“A DECADE. We only post what we want people to see. What’s hidden are all the messy parts,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “The fights, the career change, the cross country move, postpartum, sleepless nights, more arguments… all of which have made our marriage stronger. We live a chaotic and non-traditional family lifestyle. But it is for us and it is ours. You have been my rock and the one constant in our home and in our marriage. I thank the Lord everyday I get to do this life with my best friend. You. Happy 10 years of marriage! I love you.”
Renee also gave her husband a shout-out when he became a pilot for Delta in 2025.
“From Falling Skies to flying planes,” she captioned a post. “I am so proud of this man! I know absolutely no one that works as hard as you. What you have accomplished in the last 6 years, most can not do in a lifetime. I’m in awe of this. Of you. You impress me every day. We are truly ecstatic to be a part of the Delta Family. May I present you, Delta First Officer Drew Roy! Whoop whoop!”
