Carole Radziwill may not be depicted in Love Story, but an ex tried to audition for the role of her late husband!
In a Thursday, March 26, interview with The New York Times, Radziwill, 62, recalled an actor she went on a few dates with informing her that he had auditioned to play Anthony Radziwill in the hit FX show. The drama, starring Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon, charts the romance between Anthony’s best friend and cousin, John F. Kennedy Jr., and his wife, Carolyn Bessette.
According to the New York Times piece, the unnamed ex called Radziwill while she was driving through Manhattan. The actor reportedly asked if the Real Housewives of New York City alum had any recordings of her late husband that might help him prepare for the audition process. Radziwill pulled over her car in order to collect herself, per the article.
Radziwill was married to Anthony from August 1994 until his death from cancer in August 1999. JFK Jr. and Bessette died in a plane crash, alongside Bessette’s sister, just three weeks before his death.
Anthony is played by actor Erich Bergen in the Ryan Murphy drama, which has received criticism over its portrayal of the Kennedys’ whirlwind romance and deaths.
“Lately, my news feed has been filled with pictures of my uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., a great man,” Kennedy’s nephew, Jack Schlossberg, wrote via Instagram in June 2025. “For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with the new shows being made about him, the answer is no. And there’s really not much we can do.”
Schlossberg continued: “For that matter, [JFK Jr. is] considered a public figure, so there’s not much we can do. I hope those making these shows about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it. And that they donate some of the profits [that] they’re making.”
During a February interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Schlossberg doubled down on his criticism.

“If you want to know someone who’s never met anyone in my family, knows nothing about us, talk to Ryan Murphy,” Schlossberg said. “The guy knows nothing about what he’s talking about, and he’s making a ton of money on a grotesque display of someone else’s life.”
Actress Daryl Hannah also criticized the show’s depiction of her relationship with JFK Jr., whom she dated before he met Bessette.
Hannah, who was played by Dree Hemingway in the show, said the dramatized version of events was not “remotely accurate” in its “representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John.”
“I have never used cocaine in my life or hosted cocaine-fueled parties. I have never pressured anyone into marriage. I have never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded upon anyone’s private memorial,” she wrote, referring to some of the scenes in the show. “I never compared Jacqueline Onassis’ death to a dog’s. It’s appalling to me that I even have to defend myself against a television show. These are not creative embellishments of personality. They are assertions about conduct — and they are false.”
