Bridgerton‘s Yerin Ha revealed whether there are plans for her to play Sophie in season 5.
“I would love to film as much as possible,” Ha, 28, told Us Weekly exclusively at Actors Rising Presented by The Actor Awards and ELLE on Thursday, February 26.
Ha, who is the Actor Awards Ambassador, was thrilled to join the hit Netflix series.
“I mean, it’s Bridgerton,” she added after being the lead of the most recent season opposite Luke Thompson. “I’m new and I don’t have years under my belt. So I’m still fresh and I’m still ready to go. I am eager.”
Season 1 of the hit period drama debuted in 2020 with Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page) as the main focus of the show. The Netflix series, which is based on Julia Quinn‘s books, highlighted Anthony’s (Jonathan Bailey) love story with Kate (Simone Ashley) two years later.
Before Bridgerton returned with Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) as the focus, Netflix expanded the universe with the prequel series Queen Charlotte, which premiered in 2023.

Queen Charlotte introduced the young Queen Charlotte’s (India Amarteifio) rise to prominence and power after she exchanged vows with King George III (Corey Mylchreest).
In addition to exploring the characters originally brought to life by Rosheuvel and James Fleet, who played present-day King George, Queen Charlotte also focused on young Lady Danbury (Arsema Thomas) and Violet Bridgerton (Connie Jenkins-Greig).
“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter in June 2024.
Brownell noted that the priority was making the best season possible, adding, “The writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace. We’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.”
Season 4, meanwhile, explored Benedict’s (Thompson) romance with Sophie (Ha). Netflix later confirmed that the show will be returning for seasons 5 and 6 with Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton) or Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela (Masali Baduza) next in line.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Ha noted to Us after confirming that pre-production on season 5 has kicked off. “I honestly have the scripts in my inbox and I’ve been so busy I’ve not opened them.”
Looking ahead, Ha has high hopes about which costars she wants more scenes with.
“I would say Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley and Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton,” she concluded. “I wish for scenes with all the Bridgerton siblings because Sophie didn’t have many scenes with them.”
Bridgerton is streaming on Netflix now.
