The Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge has thoughts about fellow Bravo star Jill Zarin’s firing from the upcoming Real Housewives of New York City spinoff.
“Bye bye Jill,” Tamra, 58, said on the Thursday, February 12, episode of her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast. “Why do you need to go to the press? Like, you have no problem pulling up your camera and ripping on Bad Bunny. … I’m, like, ‘You can’t pick up your phone and do the same thing? Say, ‘I sincerely apologize. I don’t know what I was thinking.’”
Jill, 62, made waves when she bashed Bad Bunny’s headlining set at the Sunday, February 8, Super Bowl as inappropriate. While Jill swiftly took down her social media video, she was ultimately let go from E!’s upcoming series starring the original RHONY cast. (The new show, tentatively called The Golden Life, is slated to follow most of the OG Housewives after they all moved from the Big Apple to Florida.)
“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life,” a statement sent to Us Weekly read. “We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
Jill has since addressed her firing in a statement.
“They didn’t even give me a chance,” she told In Touch on Tuesday, February 10. “I took it down right away. People make mistakes. I’m human.”
As for Tamra, she wondered whether Jill’s statement was meant to help her get back on TV.
“I think that she’s probably, kind of, fighting for her job and her placement back on E! and threatening, ‘You’re not finished with me, I’ll be back,’” Tamra said. “I just feel, like, that’s the type of woman she is. She’s, like, tone deaf.”
Tamra’s episode cohost, Dolores Catania, also reacted to Jill’s firing at the time.
“[I think] she feels like she wants to rip her hair out because it was such a dumb thing to do. I just don’t understand why she felt the need to do that,” Dolores, 55, speculated on Tuesday’s episode. “But guess what? You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.”
In light of the scandal, Jill’ s former company publicly distanced themselves from the reality TV star.
“Zarin Fabrics stands firmly against racism, discrimination, and rhetoric that seeks to exclude or diminish people based on identity, culture, or background,” the company wrote in a Monday, February 9, statement. “We want to be absolutely clear that Jill Zarin has not had ownership of or been associated with Zarin Fabrics for several years. Our company operates independently, and any public statements attributed to her are made in a personal capacity and do not reflect our values, beliefs, or operations.”
Tamra further noted on Thursday that Jill presumably hasn’t had a stake in Zarin Fabrics since her husband Bobby Zarin’s death in 2018.
“The family still owns it, but Jill has not been involved in it,” Tamra claimed. “Not only has she not been involved in it, but they don’t want to be around her. They don’t like her.”
